AF’s Clean + Shoot – 20 October 2013

October 27, 2013 10:30 pm

Here at AF, we love stone chips. They’re a sign of proper use; a badge of honour. But there’s still something about a clean car that grabs our attention. It doesn’t have to be concourse standard but giving the old girl a good scrub (using modern, swirl-minimising techniques) lets you feel the bodywork and see the shape in a totally different way and from an unusual perspective.

With some recent arrivals to the AF team garage, we organised a detailing session to rejuvenate neglected paintwork and get the cars on the right track to easier maintenance. Our process for each car was a rinse with high-pressure hose, snow foam, rinse, 2-bucket wash, rinse, clay, rinse, dry, paint clean and sealant/wax.

We got through 4 cars in 5 hours and the protection should last 4-6 months, depending on garaging conditions and use, and washing in the mean time should now be a quick, 20-minute affair.

And the results, amid a bushfire-tinged sunset:

Washing your car shouldn’t be a chore. Now get out there and clean that pride and joy!
