All French Car Day – 15 July 2012

July 16, 2012 10:09 pm

The annual French Car Day was on at Silverwater Park on Sunday 15th July. The usual collection of historic Renaults, Citroens and Peugeots were mixed with newer variants of these marques and older models from now defunct manufacturers like Simca.

The sound of a piano-accordion filled the air, the day after Bastille Day, as entrants and visitors wandered the display of eighty or so mostly immaculate vehicles.

Race prepped R8 Gordini.

The highlights for me were seeing the only two RENAULTsport Clio V6s in the state parked up next to each other; a string of Renault 8 Gordinis celebrating their 50th year; two immaculate Simcas displaying just how small engines and tyres used to be, and; the lineup of Citroen DS representing for the airbag crew.

Our phase 1 Clio V6.

The current Renaultsport were led by the as yet unreleased Liquid Yellow 265, Liquid Yellow 200 and Steve’s Lunar Grey 250 Cup Trophee.

Dom’s immaculate R10.

With perfect weather, a big crowd and a record number of diverse French automobiles on display, it was another great year for the All French Car Show.
