Cavallino Cars and Coffee – Part One – 5 October 2014

October 15, 2014 10:54 pm

A perfect weather forecast, and the October long weekend, combined to create the biggest Sydney Automobile Club’s Cars and Coffee event to date at Cavallino Ristorante in Terrey Hills this past Sunday. We again attended in the Lotus 340R and, although not officially starting until 8am, we arrived shortly after 7 to try and nab a decent parking spot. We were in luck, scoring a prime position opposite the car park entrance in front of the restaurant.

It was great to get there early and watch the majority of cars arriving in an endless procession! Here are some vehicles that caught my eye:

Lotus Exige S Roadster. The lack of rear wing really suits the V6 Exige shape and who doesn’t like a convertible!

LP 570-4 Super Trofeo – so aggressive

Austin Healey 3000 Mk III – love the grill detail and flow of the front fenders from the headlights

Autohaus’ SC Group 4 replica – those riveted arches

Some of the more expensive machinery had been reserved spots on the street and arrived in good time

991 GT3 – very subtle in black but I could spy the cross-brace of the roll cage in the back

And still, they kept coming, including this Peridot Green Cayman R

Regular 458 vs Speciale

The North Sydney Police brought out their latest PR project, a 991 Carrera

A well presented Gallardo on Superleggera wheels

The Testarossa still stuns – I mean, look at the placement of those wing mirrors and that square derriere!

And then the car of the day arrived, drawing the attention away from everything else!

Lancia 037, hissing, whooshing and gargling its way into the main car park

Our poor little 340R didn’t stand a chance…

I have a real soft spot for F355s – mostly because of the noise they produce

NUR – R34 GT-R

Two very rare Ferraris

Lionel Lee showed up in his MP4-12C Spider

Chome Orange S2 Exige – the S2 Exige just works, particularly in CO and particularly with the black bits colour coded to match the body!

997 GT3 – still such a modern design

Check out the crowd in the background of this 308 GT4!

The other undeniable star of the day was the brand new Lamborghini Huracan

I’m really liking the styling and proportions of the new Huracan. In fact, I think I prefer it overall to the Aventador

The horizontal lines of the rear really exaggerate the width of the beast
