SSC Lotuses – 28 December 2013

January 16, 2014 11:32 pm

We were invited to another look around the new SSC Lotus showroom in Artarmon, in late December. This coincided with the arrival of some fresh Exige Ss, some interesting Lotus trade-ins and a look inside the underpinnings of the infamous HPE (Honda Powered Exige), undergoing a Frankenhonda rebuild of it’s already blown V-Tec engine.

First up was a stunning, brand new Yellow Exige S with full leather interior. It was so new it still had the plastic on the seats and sills:

Next up was subtle but sexy grey Exige S, lurking in the shiny new showroom:

Next was a silver Elise 111R – a recent trade on a grey Evora S IPS (a stunning car!). I’m not usually a fan of silver Lotus, but something about this example and its setting struck a chord with me: I thought it looked great:

And finally, we had a look at an Elise/Exige in bits. This is the dealer principal’s own track car, which started life as a grey Elise and has been transformed into a fire-spitting, supercharged Honda-powered, carbon fibre-bodied Exige. It’s currently undergoing an engine rebuild to a Frankenhonda motor – it was a K20A and is now having a K24 bottom end fitted for even higher power and torque figures. A full feature will follow in the coming months but for now, some progress shots:
